Rovers have today announced the departure of 25-year-old full-back, James Brown, who joins Scottish Premiership side, Ross County on a two-year-deal.

The Irish defender, who joined Rovers in January 2022, departs Ewood Park having only played one competitive game for the club – the 2-1 victory over Birmingham City at St. Andrews’ at the end of the 2021-22 season.

Despite featuring in pre-season following the arrival of Jon Dahl Tomasson, Brown remained out of favour and spent the first-half of 2022-23 on loan at League Two’s Stockport County, before being recalled in January 2023 where he then spent time at Doncaster Rovers, also of the fourth tier.

The move to the Staggies sees Malky Mackay’s side snap the defender up on an initial free transfer – with potential future incentives. Brown, who only had a year left on his deal at Ewood Park, has been allowed to kick on his career away from Rovers in a move that suits all parties.

Good Luck, James!
