Ennis Exits.

Blackburn Rovers have today announced that summer signing, Niall Ennis, has left the club to join fellow Championship side, Stoke City, on a permanent deal, reportedly worth around £600,000.

The 24-year-old striker, who joined Rovers in the summer on an initial four-year contract via a free transfer, has struggled with multiple injuries since swapping Home Park to Ewood Park in the summer and Rovers clearly believed that it was in the best interest of both parties that the player sought pastures new after half a season at Ewood Park, to try and recapture his best form.

Ennis, who won the League One title with the Argyle last season, scoring 11 goals enroute, had a mixed spell thus far at Rovers since joining on a free transfer in May, but did manage to net his first goal in Blue and White, in Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side’s 4-3 home victory over Walsall in the Carabao Cup First Round.

A highly-rated attacker during his time in the Wolverhampton Wanderers academy, Ennis will be hoping a fresh start will aid his return to full fitness and help him regain his confidence with more regular game time, given his pathway to the first team at Rovers seemed unlikely given the club have actively looking to recruit more in the forward areas recently.

Ennis will now have the time and patience under his former boss at Plymouth Argyle, Steven Schumacher, to try and recoup previous form as the Stoke boss will no doubt know how to get the best out of the attacker as he did in 2022-23.

All the best for the future, Niall!
