Rovers have secured the deadline day loan signing of Rekeem Harper from West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan deal.
The 17-year old adds depth to Rovers’ midfield and manager Tony Mowbray will in no doubt be happy to have finally secured his long term target, as the boss had been tracking Harper’s progress during pre-season and even enquired about his availability prior to the youngster making his full debut at West Brom in the Premier League against Bournemouth, where he appeared as a second half substitute.
Speaking to the club’s official media team, Harper stated that he was excited about progressing at Ewood Park. “I’m delighted, it should be a good time here and a valuable experience for when I return to West Brom, and hopefully I can play some football and show the fans what I’m capable of, whilst also helping the club achieve their ambitions on the pitch. It’s a massive training ground and I’ve had a warm welcome from everyone.”
The youngster, who signed a professional deal with West Brom this morning prior to the completion of this deal, will want to grab this opportunity with both hands in order for him to potentially stake a claim in West Brom’s team for future seasons. Additionally, the Rovers fans will be hoping that his addition will aid the side, in terms of depth and quality, as they try and bounce back to the Championship at the first attempt.
