Rovers draw Second City side.

Rovers’ patience to see who they would host in the FA Cup 4th Round has seen them offered a tie against fellow Championship opposition, in Birmingham City.

With Forest Green Rovers and Birmingham City battling out for a place in the Fourth Round on Tuesday 17th January, due to their original fixture being postponed, due to a waterlogged pitch at The New Lawn, it was the Championship side who came up trumps.

John Eustace’s side came from behind at the break to claim a 2-1 victory in Nailsworth, as they were pushed to the edge by the third-tier side, who currently find themselves rock bottom of League One, in their maiden campaign after winning League Two, last season.

Their victory saw them enter the Fourth Round for the first time since 2019-20, where they reached the Round of 16 – after ironically beating Rovers in the Third Round 2-1 – and have now set up the clash at Ewood Park, which has been preliminarily scheduled for Saturday 28th January at 3pm.

This upcoming clash for Birmingham at Ewood Park will be their second game in the competition this season after entering the competition as part of the non-European Premier League and Championship cohort in the Third Round.

Blackburn Rovers, meanwhile, entered the competition at the Third Round stage and overcame Norwich City at Carrow Road by a 1-0 scoreline, courtesy of a goal from Jack Vale to secure their spot in Round Four of the tournament.
