Rovers quartet voted into League 1’s PFA Team of the Season.

With Rovers’ fantastic season slowly edging towards its climax, the PFA (Professional Footballers’ Association) have released the League 1 Team of the Season, which sees Charlie Mulgrew, Amari’i Bell, Bradley Dack and Danny Graham all represent Rovers, within the 11 picked.

With Rovers already claiming a host of awards during Sunday’s EFL Awards, as Bradley Dack and Charlie Mulgrew were named in the EFL Team of the Season, alongside Dack being crowned League 1’s best player, the awards for the duo haven’t ceased there, as they have also been awarded a spot in the PFA Team of the Season (see below), alongside teammates, Amari’i Bell and Danny Graham, after being voted in by their fellow peers.

Despite Rovers, as a club, being awarded with EFL Family Club of the Year, the playing staff have continued the outstanding season, as they sit in 2nd place in League 1, 5 points clear of Shrewsbury Town in 3rd and 1 point behind leaders Wigan Athletic and it cannot be denied that Dack, Mulgrew and Graham have been the cornerstones to Rovers’ success. Amari’i Bell, however, has been impressing with his performances ever since making the move across Lancashire from Fleetwood Town in January, but it cannot be dismissed that most of his performances this season have been in the Red and White of the Cod Army, which may suggest that his inclusion is off the back of his Fleetwood performances, rather than his Rovers ones.

Reverting back to Dack, Mulgrew and Graham, the trio’s impact to the Rovers side can be deduced through their numbers; Dack has 16 goals with 8 assists, Mulgrew has 12 goals and 4 assists and Graham has 13 goals and 7 assists. With there still being 4 games left to the campaign, adding to these numbers may prove harder than it seems as Rovers continue their battle with Wigan Athletic for the top spot in the league.

With the PFA Awards being held on Sunday 22nd April, it sees all 92 clubs in England, alongside the 10 Women’s Super League sides celebrate an evening of individual achievement and collective success.
