Rovers have announced that defender Sam Hart has temporarily departed the club after signing a loan deal with fellow League One side, Rochdale, until the end of the 2017/18 season.
Sam Hart, who was a product of the Manchester United academy, before moving to Liverpool’s youth side, signed for Rovers in the summer for an undisclosed fee after agreeing a two-year deal at Ewood Park, however due to the impressive performances of Derrick Williams at left-back for Rovers, Hart has found his opportunities at Rovers hard to come-by, which is what has led to this loan deal.
The 21-year old made seven appearances for the Blues this season – with his 3 league appearances coming off the bench – before agreeing to temporarily switch his allegiances to Rochdale for the remainder of the current campaign. With Rochdale yesterday, confirming that their left-back Joe Bunney had left Spotland to sign for Northampton Town, Keith Hill was quick to replace the outgoing full-back with Hart, which will allow Rovers to potentially finalise their ongoing pursuit for Fleetwood Town’s Amari’i Bell.
From Rovers’ point of view, this deal will be a good way of creating space in the squad, but will also allow Hart to get the development, through first-team football that his talent has been craving. Once the full-back returns next season, the development he gains from this consistent spell in Rochdale’s first-team, will allow to battle it out for a place in the Rovers starting eleven, whatever division Rovers find themselves in next season.
