“This game is evidence that everything we have done during the week has worked.”

Following his 3rd goal in as many games, which secured Rovers’ first league win of the season, Dominic Samuel sat down with BBC Radio Lancashire to discuss how important it was to get the first three points on the board.

“It feels great to be the match winner, but all the credit should go to the team, they played well today. Bradford City haven’t lost here in a while, so it was important that we came here and were the team that stopped them from extending their run and that’s what we’ve done and now we can move onto the next game.

“This game is evidence that everything we have done during the week has worked. From early on in the week, we’ve been working on our shape and how we press and everyone has been talking about how good training was and how we had a good feeling that we were going to perform well and get a good result which we did. We’ve just got to keep it up and hopefully this win will be a starting point for a successful season.”

Samuel also analysed his movement for his goal which turned out to be the match winner for Rovers, however he was quick to heap praise on Craig Conway who provided the assist for the goal.

“It was a great ball from Craig and as a striker; you should always be in the six yard box as it allows you to feed off of the wide players. Sometimes you have to be in the right place at the right time as a striker, but you also have to be hungry for goals. The training was intense, as I said before and we had a game plan for today, which was to flood their penalty area and shut their team down, which is what we’ve done and thankfully it’s paid off.”
