In the wake of the 2nd round of the Carabao Cup, which features the much-anticipated East Lancashire Derby, Rovers boss, Tony Mowbray spoke to BBC Radio Lancashire on Tuesday in regards to which players he would anticipate would make the squad for the tie.
“We can forget about Dack & Lenihan for tomorrow night. Ryan Nyambe didn’t train today, so we probably won’t be risking Ryan in tomorrow’s game. Scott Wharton also twisted his ankle during training so he looks like a doubt for the game as well.”
Mowbray also discussed how he was expecting the selection to predominantly remain the same, despite the increasing number of injuries, however the manager did confirm that the injury to Bradley Dack would only take a couple of days to heal and that the Burnley game was a bit too early for the 23-year old.
“With the international break that is coming up, we’ll have to see whether the Fleetwood game goes ahead due to the call-ups within the squad leaving us short of players. If that game didn’t go ahead, hopefully by the time the break is over, we should have everybody back fit and ready.”
The 53-year old also highlighted the need for another body in the defensive part of the field and confessed that he was working tirelessly towards bringing in a defender that would help with the depth of the squad.
