Town Trip for Tomasson!

Town Trip for Tomasson!

Following the draw for the Second Round of the Carabao Cup, which took place live on Sky Sports on the evening of Wednesday 9th August, Rovers – who were ball #1 in the Northern Section of the draw – were offered an away tie against Harrogate Town, who overcame Carlisle United in the First Round by a 1-0 scoreline.

The clash, is set to take place in the week commencing 28th August. Rovers, of course, lifted the competition in 2002, whilst Harrogate are only competing in their fourth-ever League Cup campaign, following their arrival into the Football League in 2020-21.

Rovers and the Sulphurites have never met in a competitive capacity, as it offers Rovers and their fans a first-ever trip to Harrogate’s Wetherby Road – known as the EnviroVent Stadium for sponsorship reasons.

Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side will be looking to replicate their exploits from last campaign where they made it to Round Four, beating Hartlepool United, Bradford City and West Ham United on penalties, before bowing out against Nottingham Forest, at Ewood Park. Simon Weaver’s side, meanwhile, have only ever reached the Second Round once before – in 2020-21 – where they were beaten by West Bromwich Albion, following a penalty victory over Tranmere Rovers in the First Round.

As per the club website, a confirmed date and ticket details for the tie will be announced in due course.
