As Rovers look to the future, the Blues have announced the goalkeeper and boyhood Rovers fan, Jordan Eastham has penned a new deal until 2025.
The 21-year-old, who has yet to make a first-team debut for Rovers, has been a key part of the first-team squad, participating in every training session and playing a crucial role in keeping Thomas Kaminski and Aynsley Pears on their toes, which has helped improve the two senior shot-stoppers.
Whilst Eastham’s wait for a Championship appearance continues, the young goalie has been crucial for Rovers’ under-21s side, appearing nine times in the 2022-23 Premier League 2 Division 1 season. Despite not yet gracing Ewood Park in Blue and White, Eastham isn’t short on experience having had a couple of loan spells with fellow Lancashire non-league side, Lancaster City at Giant Axe.
As Eastham continues to grow and learn so early on in his career, the goalie is fixated on earning the number 1 shirt at Ewood Park in years to come, which he disclosed to RoversTV.
“I’m delighted to have been offered the opportunity to sign the contract and I’m looking forward to kicking on even more over these next two years. I’ve been here for seven years now, I’ve come through the Academy after joining the Under-14s and it’s been great coming through the system.
“I’m around the first-team and it’s been good to be in it, seeing how everyone works, how happy everyone is, I’m glad to be able to experience it for the first time in my career. It’s a great group of goalkeepers here. Everyone helps each other and pushes each other on, which I hope the next two years will do for me.
“Everyone will get better and it’s a fight to get that number one spot, which I hope to get over the next couple of years I’ll be doing my best to show everyone what I’m about. I’ll keep working on everything, I want to get my distribution better and improve on my shot-stopping to become a better overall goalkeeper.
“I hope one day, I’ll be playing regularly for Rovers.”
Congratulations, Jordan!
