Rovers have entered the FA Cup Fifth Round for the first time since 2016-17, after overcoming Birmingham City, 1-0, via a replay at St. Andrews on Tuesday night.
Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side – who drew with Birmingham City 2-2 at Ewood Park at the weekend – edged a very tight contest that hit 120 minutes, but an Aaron Trusty own goal gave Rovers the pass into the Fifth Round of the competition.
The Blues, who will be away in their next game in the competition, were drawn against former Premier League champions, Leicester City live on BBC1’s ‘The One Show’, on Monday night and will face the Foxes on the week commencing, Monday 27th February.
Before beating Birmingham City, Rovers had to get the better of fellow Championship side, Norwich City in the Third Round, who they beat at Carrow Road, 1-0, courtesy of a Jack Vale goal.
Leicester City had to overcome League Two’s Gillingham and Walsall – both by 1-0 scorelines – to make it this far. The Foxes won the 2020-21 edition under current boss, Brendan Rodgers, courtesy of another 1-0 win, via a Youri Tielemans wonder goal, this time against Chelsea at Wembley in the final of May 2021.
Tickets and travel information will be announced by Rovers, once a date is fixed and any television duties are considered.
