Following the scheduling of Rovers’ pre-season plans, which sees them travel to Hibernian, Port Vale, Accrington Stanley and Lincoln City respectively, the Blues have today announced a marquee matchup which sees Tony Mowbray’s men host beaten Champions League Finalists, Liverpool.
With Liverpool coming off their most successful Champions League campaign in over a decade, this tie will be key for Rovers and Mowbray, in assessing how the players would fare against opposition of the highest quality and would help in running a fine comb over both, the tactics and the squad, prior to the opening game of the Championship season, scheduled for early August.
With the game being pencilled in for the 19th July – meaning it would be sandwiched in between Rovers’ trips to Port Vale and Lincoln City – it gives Rovers the chance to entertain the loyal home crowd, rather than a limited contingency of away fans, not on holiday.
Tickets for the 7:45pm kick-off, when made available for sale, will be priced at £10 for adults, £5 for seniors (65+) and young adults (ages 18-21), and just £2 for juniors (under-18s), meaning that a bumper crowed would be anticipated for the arrival of one of the Premier League’s leading sides.
