Rovers have enlisted the support of Middlesbrough’s 19 year old winger, Harry Chapman who has joined the Blues on a season-long loan from the Championship club. The former Sheffield United loanee joins Rovers in hope of securing a hattrick of promotions out of the third tier of English football, having secured promotion into the Championship with Barnsley via the playoffs in 2015-16 and with Sheffield United in 2016-17 as the Blades secured the title with games to spare.
The Hartlepool-born midfielder, who is highly rated by the Boro fans, is fresh off the back of a World Cup win with England u-20s, as the promising prospect featured on the bench in the final, despite this, he was able to make an appearance as he came off the bench at a crucial time in the game for England.
Rovers have been given the green light by Middlesbrough to allow Chapman to feature in the Carabao Cup, Checkatrade Trophy and FA Cup competitions for this season.
Talking to the media department at the club, Harry gave an insight into what it’s like to be on the end of a Tony Mowbray meeting, as well as placing his admiration for the club and his manager on record in the process; “He has five key points – we press the ball when we lose it high, we counter-attack, we stop counter-attacks, we control the game and we keep the ball on the floor – which is all what I enjoy football-wise, so it was good to hear.” explained Chapman. “When I was in the Academy at Middlesbrough he (Mowbray) was obviously there and I’ve talked to the lads who are still there and they’ve all persuaded me, saying he’s really good, he’ll get the best out of you and that’s what I need. It’s a massive club and they shouldn’t be in this league. They need to get back to where they belong, up the top and I’m here to help out and I can’t wait to get started. “It would be unbelievable if I can do three out of three (promotions) and with the squad we’ve got here I don’t see why we can’t.”
Chapman adds to what is an already experienced League One midfield, and the players and fans alike will be waiting to see what the Middlesbrough loanee can bring to the squad in terms of creativity, goals & assists.
