Rovers have borrowed the services of striker Marcus Antonsson on a season-long loan from Leeds United.
The Swede, who has had a prolific goal tally in his native homeland, is a capture that Rovers fans should be looking forward to seeing, despite his shyness in front of goal for the Elland Road side as a result of many cameo appearances off the bench, due to the scintillating form of Chris Wood last season.
The Blues have reportedly fought off competition for the striker from sides in both Sweden and England; however the 26 year old is keen to make his mark in Blue and White in order to help Rovers return to the Championship. Speaking to the club’s media team, Antonsson said; “It’s a very big club and it’ll be a big challenge to get promoted, but that’s what we’re here for.”
The forward has been given permission to play in this season’s Carabao Cup, Checkatrade Trophy and FA Cup. He is also eligible for tomorrow’s home game against Doncaster Rovers.
