Rovers have secured the signature of Gillingham’s highly rated attacking midfielder, Bradley Dack on an initial three year deal, which could be extended to four. The coveted 23 year old joins Peter Whittingham & Richie Smallwood increasing Rovers’ summer dealings to three.
Dack joins Rovers for a fee of around £750,000 plus add-ons, as reported by the club’s official website and despite the fee being relatively high for a League One player, Dack was determined to not let it faze him as, like his fellow signings, he targets promotion as the ‘only goal’ this season for Rovers.
Speaking to the clubs’ official website, he lined out his aspirations for the upcoming season; “I think that (promotion) has got to be the aim for a club this size and the players we’ve got. It has got to be the aim to go straight back into the Championship and I’m confident we can do it.”
Much like Richie Smallwood, Dack is no stranger to life in the third tier, having been playing in League One ever since Gillingham were promoted in 2013, in which he played a major role. The Greenwich-born midfielder is also relatively familiar to individual accolades, having been named as ‘The Gills’ young player of the season no less than 3 times consecutively from 2014-2017, whilst in 2015-16, Dack racked up, the League One Player of the Season award and was named in the Football League Team of the Season, in addition to his domestic awards, which included, Gillingham’s Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Sponsor’s Player of the Year.
Finishing his Gills career with 38 goals and 34 assists in 185 appearances, the Rovers faithful will be hoping that Dack’s scintillating stats can continue in another form of Blue and White.
